Funeral Mass for Wilbert Joseph Derrick, 82, of Mentor, will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 37950 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Mr. Derrick passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at Heather Hill Care Community in Chardon. Born Aug. 13, 1929, in Akron and had lived in Jeanette, Pa., for four years before moving to Lake County. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby, the American Legion Post in Sandusky and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War, stationed in Alaska. In his leisure time, he loved golf, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. Mr. Derrick was a builder working for Majestac Homes and later was the founder of Sherlock Homes and Kelly Homes. Survivors are his children, Kevin J. Derrick of Willoughby, Paul W. Derrick of Houston, Texas, Marjorie S. (J. Brad) Carroll of Kingwood, Texas, Joni L. (Rick) D'Amico of Mentor, William K. (fiancee, Julie) Derrick of Willoughby, Maryellen S. Derrick of Mentor, Dawn K. (Mike) Zivcic of Leroy Township, Joseph M. Derrick of Avon Lake and Melissa A. Derrick of Richmond Heights; cherished grandfather of Joseph Strailey, Ryan Strailey, Jordan Derrick, Kelsey Derrick, Dominic Powell, Nicky Sivillo, Mark Derrick, Kayleigh Zivcic and Hally Zivcic; brother of Rosemary Stropki of Painesville and Joan Keeney of Painesville Township; and uncle of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Joseph and Mary R. (Graham) Derrick; and brothers, Larry and Danny Derrick. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
