Thomas Henry Phillips, age 80, of Willoughby for the past 40 years, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood. He was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Louisville, Ky. Tom worked at Lubrizol in Wickliffe until his retirement. He also retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Tom spent his retired years volunteering as his lovely wife's yard boy, as he always joked while working in their beautiful Willoughby garden. Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Patricia; daughters, Susan (Edward) Floyd and Diana (Harry Gianakis); grandchildren, Byron (Amy) Floyd and Ashley (Jeff) Pendexter; great-grandson, Byron Edward Floyd; and siblings, Betty Farley and Bill Phillips. Services will be private. The family would like to thank the staff of Ahuja Medical Center for their outstanding professional care. Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
