Obituary for Sophia A Podboy
Funeral services for Sophia A. (nee Jankowski) Podboy, 86, of Eastlake, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Mrs. Podboy passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 17, 2017, at her residence.
Born Oct. 7, 1930, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she had been a resident of Lake County for 34 years.
Sophia loved her catalogs. She was a fan of “catalog shopping.” She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and all sports, especially the Cavs.
Mrs. Podboy was the office manager of several furniture stores and co-owner of various Podboy Lounges in the area.
Sophia was the loving mother of Linda F. (Bob) Leskovec, Michael J. (Nancy) Podboy Jr., Jimmy A. (Pamela) Podboy, Susie M. (Bob) Coan, Charlene J. (John) McAuley, Sandy J. (Rick) Tami and Lori R. (Jim) Stanicki; cherished grandmother "GaGa" of Lori Kilpeck, Bobby Leskovec, Tommy Leskovec, Stacy Zupancic, Amanda Egerk, Jason Egerk, James Podboy Jr., Michael Coan, Christopher Coan, Timmy Coan, Danny Coan, Stacey Paluf, Patrick McAuley, Kelly Hirsh, Meghan McAuley, Jimmy Stanicki Jr. Stephanie Buzecan and Kevin Stanicki; great-grandmother of McKenzie, Morgan, Madison, Ella, Bobby, Moira, Fiona, Taylor, Halle, Addison, Alexis, Makayla, Tanner, Mary Kate, Avery, Brielle, Reagan, Hannah, Rose, Sophia, Max, Anna and Leo; sister of Leo Jankowski (Wilma Kmetz); and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Michael J. Podboy; parents, Stanley and Julia (nee Codosky) Jankowski; and brother, Stanley (Brenda) Jankowski.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
