Funeral services for Ronald R. Martz, 71, of Eastlake, will be Monday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. The time will be at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Martz passed away Friday, April 8, 2011, at his residence in Eastlake. Born June 11, 1939, in Springtown, Pa., he had been a Lake County resident for the majority of his lifetime, living in Eastlake. Ron was a mechanic and body man, excelling in his field and being recognized as the recipient of the Most Outstanding Award at the 4th Annual Cleveland International Rod and Custom Auto Rama in 1970. He loved drag racing, was part of the Martz Brothers Racing Team with their No. 1 car, "Blood, Sweat and Tears." He was the former husband of Marilyn (nee Calder) Martz of Eastlake; father of Timothy R. Martz of Eastlake, Ronald J. Martz of Euclid, Donald W. Martz of Willowick, and Daniel R. Martz of Euclid; grandfather of six; brother of Jean Foutz of Cumberland, Md., and James Martz of Kirtland; and uncle of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Tina Capitan and Gina Thompson; and siblings, Robert Martz, Shirley Scarbrough and Neva Sands. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
