Joanna "Joan" Nachrebecki, age 94, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, in the presence of her loving family at the Salida Woods Assisted Living home in Mentor. She was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Cleveland, to Marion and Caroline (Shanborn) Nachrebecki. Joan was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Hall of Warren and Jennie (Herb) Hoffman of Willowick. Joan was the beloved aunt of Jim (Patti Leonello) Hoffman of Mentor, Karen (Rick) Bjorksten of Findlay, Richard (Beth) Hall of Lordstown, Shirley Tackett and Christian Wilde of Studio City, Calif.; and great-aunt to many. She was also the aunt of the late Marion (Ken) Keyser of formerly of Cortland. She was devoted to her family. Though a resident of Salida Woods in Mentor, Joan was previously a 35-year resident of Shoregate Towers in Willowick. She was proud of her past employment at Oliver and the Parker Hannifin Corporation, where she was a purchasing agent. Joan loved flowers and enjoyed growing and displaying her arrangements. "Aunt Jo" was a marvelous seamstress and enjoyed making most of her own clothes. Joan loved to cook and her delicious bakery, especially the rum cake will certainly be missed at all future family gatherings. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St., (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township immediately following. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119.
