Jeanne M. (nee Topper) Lombardo, passed away on Sept. 30, 2013, embraced in the love of her family. Jeanne passed away at home with class and dignity in the same manner in which she lived her entire life. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at St. Joseph Church, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Jeanne was born on Aug. 28, 1939, to Robert and Boneita Topper. She was raised in her father's boyhood century home in the quaint town of Jefferson. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1957. It gave her much pride to lead the high school marching band through "her town" as their head majorette. Stunningly beautiful and intelligent, Jeanne was never at a loss for young and handsome suitors at her doorstep, sometimes causing the need for some "creative shuffling." That all came to an end while attending St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1958. She met and married the man that would become the love of her life and husband of 54 years, David J. Lombardo. Passion and perfection were reflected in every creative outlet ever undertaken. She was a talented classical pianist, painter, writer and poet. "Love gifts" received were usually a result of one of her multitude of hobbies. Some of which included woodworking, sewing, crocheting, knitting and jewelery making. Her appreciation of nature was reflected in her love of gardening, trips to the ocean and walks in the woods. Reminiscing on her several trips to Italy always seemed to make her heart sing and brought a smile to her face. Considerate, thoughtful and reflective she raised her children with unconditional love and respect, always fostering each child's individuality and strengths. The goal of family unity was always her greatest wish and parting gift. She is survived by her husband, David; her children, David J. (Patricia) Lombardo, Diana J. (James) Lombardo-Bruening, Lisa (Vince) Santon and Nina (James) Lombardo-Mylott; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Carol M. (Jack) Maylish. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Boneita Topper; and her infant son, Michael J. Lombardo. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at The McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St., Mentor (Route 615 North of Route 2). Burial in Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jeanne's memory to the Alzheimer's Association , 8522 East Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. www.MCVfuneralhomes.com
