Funeral Mass for Richard George Wardeiner, 87, of Perry will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor. Fr. Tim Plavac will officiate the Mass.
Mr. Wardeiner passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born Jan. 29, 1930, in Youngstown, he had lived in Euclid before moving to Lake County 22 years ago.
Mr. Wardeiner was a U.S. Army Reserves veteran, and a member of the St. Paul’s Youth Development Club. He was also the successful owner of his own barber shop for 32 years, then embarked on a new and rewarding career in real estate title work. Most importantly, he was a cherished grandfather to his grandchildren.
He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Eleanor (nee Bolden) Wardeiner; loving father of Terri King of Perry, Michael R. (Peg) Wardeiner of Mentor, Laura (Paul) Dorsey of Sylvania, Lisa Wardeiner of Painesville and Mark R. (Nada) Wardeiner of Mentor; cherished grandfather of Chris, Sarah, Matt, Rachel, Ben, Lauren, Michael, Katie, Danielle, Alan, Andrea and Danny; brother of Bob Wardeiner; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sophia (nee Artz) Wardeiner; and sisters, Eleanor and Doris.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
