Obituary for Jimmy L McCoy

Jimmy L  McCoy
Celebration of life services for Jimmy L. McCoy, 68, of Willoughby, will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. The Rev. Don Perks will officiate the service.
Mr. McCoy passed away April 23, 2017, at The Cleveland Clinic.
Born Nov. 27, 1948, in Shinnston, W.Va., he had been a lifetime Lake County resident, living in Willowick and Eastlake before moving to Willoughby.
Jimmy was a special man and truly enjoyed his roles at a loving husband, father and best friend. He was a 1967 graduate of Eastlake North High School and Max Hayes Trade School. Jimmy was smart, meticulous, funny, caring, and brave. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Ranger. He was also a life member of V.F.W. Post 1500 in Willoughby, a great pinochle player and loved racing cars for 15 years. Jim did it all…Jim lived!
Mr. McCoy retired after 10 years as an Eastlake fireman and enjoyed every minute of it. He also retired after 30 years from Parker Hannifin, where he had worked as a tool and die maker.
Jimmy was the beloved husband of 40 years to Linda Y. (nee Fletcher) McCoy; loving father of Shayna E. McCoy and Samantha M. McCoy; brother-in-law of Rick (Laura) Fletcher; and uncle of Derrick and Aaron Fletcher. He also leaves his dog, “Denver.”
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Eastlake Fire Dept., 35150 Lakeshore Blvd., Eastlake, OH 44095.
