Obituary for Helen C Millard
Funeral Mass for Helen Clara Millard, 96, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor.
Mrs. Millard peacefully passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017.
Born Oct. 23, 1920, in Cleveland, she married her husband Carl in 1939, and raised their family in Mentor. She then moved to Euclid for 42 years before moving back to Mentor six years ago to live with her son.
Mrs. Millard retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She loved to travel, and wintered in Florida for many years. She was especially proud of her Polish heritage and had travelled to Poland on several occasions. She was an avid walker, reader and member of the Mentor Senior Center.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Western Reserve for the wonderful care and compassion shown Helen and her family during her illness.
She was the loving mother of Carole Cardinale of Venice, Fla., Bonnie Boyd of Mentor-on-the-Lake, and Carl (Debbie) Millard of Mentor; cherished grandmother of James (Renee) King, Heidi (Tom) Choiniere, Jim (Celeste) Boyd, Carl (Belen) King and Erica Boyd; and great-grandmother of Colin, Payton and Evan.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl W. Millard; grandson, Douglas Boyd; parents, Konstantyn and Katarzyna (nee Szmitko) Sobocinski; and siblings, Sophia, Regina, Cecelia, Alphons, Hieronin and Agnieszka.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
