Memorial Service for Marie E. Johnson, 93, of Willoughby will be7 p.m. Tuesday at the Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave., Willoughby (on the grounds of the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home).
Marie passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation-Lake Med in Painesville.
Born April 9, 1923 in Forest Park, Illinois, she had been a resident of Lake County for 62 years.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby and a former member of the Willoughby Women’s Club. She was known for her quick wit and sarcasm, great sense of humor and her love of politics.
Marie was the cherished mother of Barbara Flaiz and Amy (Al) Kurnick; grandmother of James (Laura) Flaiz, Matthew (Audrey) Flaiz, Brian (Katie) Flaiz, Anne Marie Kurnick; and great grandmother of Zachary, Daniel, Ella Marie, Harrison and Serena.
She was preceded in death by her loving companion, Bud Baker; grandson,John Kurnick; parents, Frank and Agnes (nee Haggerty) Sweeney; and brother, John Sweeney.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at The Abbey of Willoughby. Burial will be in Willoughby Cemetery.
