Obituary for Catherine G. Fonda

Catherine G. Fonda
Private family services will be held for Catherine G. (nee Opalka) Fonda, 73, of Painesville Township.
Mrs. Fonda passed away Dec. 11, 2017, at her residence with her family at her side.
Born June 18, 1944, in Cleveland, she had lived there before moving to Lake County 45 years ago.
Catherine was the loving wife of Frank F. Fonda, whom she married Dec. 19, 1963; loving mother of Kristen E. Fonda (Robert Evans) of Eastlake; cherished grandmother of Sara (Jake) Newpher, Briana Lloyd, Caitlin O’Connell and Anna Evans; sister of Patt Palidar and Maryann Porinchok; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her children, Catherine M. O’Connell and Frank F. Fonda Jr.; parents, John and Catherine (nee Mucic) Opalka; and siblings, John, Robert, Joseph and Mark Opalka, Dorothy Zigmund and Marcella Shaw.
Catherine was an outstanding U.S.M.C. wife. She enjoyed bowling with friends, Barb, Donna and Dorothy on the “Alley Cats” team. Catherine also enjoyed playing slots. Her greatest joy of all in life was her children and grandchildren, whom she could not have loved or cared for more. Her greatest pleasure was making the holiday meals for the whole family. She gave everything she had to her family and then gave more, even to the family pets.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
