Obituary for Margaret "Margo" Meadows

Margaret "Margo" Meadows
Margaret “Margo” Meadows was born, July 12, 1937, in Liverpool, England to Helen (Freeman) and Henry Rees, and passed away Oct. 21, 2017, at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, surrounded by her loved ones.
She along with her brother, Hank and sister, Joyce lived there until after World War II. She immigrated to America in March of 1950, with the family following her oldest sister, who immigrated to America as a “war-bride” and settled in Cleveland. The whole family then became US. Citizens.
Margo attended Collinwood High School, married soon after, and had three children, Richard, Cathy and Belinda. In life, there are some bad turns, and Margaret and her husband parted ways. After that, Margaret continued to live in Eastlake and raised her children. She put herself through cosmetology school, and then worked with her mother, Helen “Dolly” Rees, for many years until she moved her beauty shop. “The Vain Main,” to Vine Street in Eastlake, where eventually her daughter, Belinda worked with her.
Margo went on serving her community for 15 years, making the world a beautiful place one head at a time. Margo lived in Eastlake for 53 of her 80 years of life. She was a member of the “British American Club” in Twinsburg, “The Daughters of the British Empire” in Cleveland, and “The Order of the Eastern Stars” in West Park Chapter #427. Margo loved her children and all of her grandchildren very much. She loved to cook, collect recipes, and spend time with family and friends, along with her boyfriend, George Schombert, until his passing Aug. 25, 2007.
George and Margo were together for 31 years, and were a beloved couple at the “British American Club” (BAC), where they were both members. They belonged to the BAC traveling dart team and loved to go with them on gambling bus trips. They also loved traveling everywhere with each other. If there was a destination, and a road, they were gone enjoying life.
Along the road of life, Margo was a teacher. If you ever talked to her, or you knew her, there was a lesson she would give you, or a better way of doing something, “HER GOOD ADVICE.” Maybe she told you it before, but you would pause and say, “Yeah mom, tell me how to do that.” With a huge smile, and a chest full of pride, she would proceed to tell you.
Margo was also a beautiful seamstress, and would often make matching outfits for herself and her two daughters; dresses, shirts, and anything your heart could desire, she could do it. She also taught ceramics in her basement for many years. Her artistic ability had no bounds, and she loved life more than life itself. She had more advice to give, more recipes to go over, and more fun to be had if her body hadn’t given out 20 years ago.
“We know mom is up in Heaven sitting at a big table, seeing everybody, and having a giant dinner that she cooked with all the recipes she had collected over the years. We hope that one day in time we can all join her in her big feast in Heaven. God bless you Mom/Nana, we will always love and miss you until the end of our time.”
In Margo’s, Mom’s, or Nana’s famous goodnight wish to all, she would say, “Goodnight, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite, and God Bless, I love you.” “Goodnight Mom, we love you. XOXO….”
She was the loving mother of Richard (Tamara) Meadows, Catherine DiSantis (Duane Adkins), Belinda (Randy) Meadows Kergan; cherished grandmother of Richard (Megan) Wiggins, Christopher DiSantis, Scarlette Meadows, Scott Kergan, Sean Kergan and Duane Adkins; great-grandmother of Richard Wiggins IV; sister of Henry Rees; and aunt of many dear nieces and nephews.
Margo was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Helen (nee Freeman) Rees; sister, Josephine Knauer; infant sister, Barbara Rees; infant brother, Henry Rees; sister-in-law, Sue Rees; brother-in-law, Robert Knauer; and loving companion, George Schombert.
A memorial gathering of friends will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Eastlake Baptist Church, 35401 Stevens Blvd., Eastlake, with a service to follow at 3 p.m.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
