Obituary for William Cairns

William Cairns, 84, of Eastlake, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at his residence.
Born June 12, 1933, in Glasgow, Scotland, he had been a resident of Lake County for the past 58 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a very proud member of the International Painter’s Union. Mr. Cairns was also the original founder of the Eastlake Boy’s Soccer League.
William was the loving father of William M. Cairns, David W. (Debbie) Cairns, Margaret “Peggy” Miguet and James K. (Cheryl) Cairns; cherished grandfather of John (Holly), Jeremy, Jaime Cairns, Stephaney (Brian) Sethman, Elizabeth and Catherine Miguet, Phillip (Rhiannan), Eric and Jessica Cairns; great-grandfather of 12; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia M. (nee Andrews) Cairns; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Cairns; parents, William and Margaret (nee Wright) Cairns; and siblings, James Cairns and Ronnie McBride.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby. Burial will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville. (Family and friends are asked to please meet at the cemetery at 10:15 a.m.)
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland OH 44110.
