Willoughby resident Sandra “Sandy” Lou Parsons Kimble passed away May 23, 2017, at home holding the hand of her loving husband of 50 years, Jim.
Sandy was born July 24, 1948, and grew up near Grantsville, W.Va., as the eldest sister in a family of seven siblings.
She graduated from high school and married the love of her life, Jim, in 1966. After starting her family and while her children were still in school, Sandy attended college and earned her Associate of Nursing RN from Lakeland College. While working as an RN, she continued her education eventually earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing and Psychology from Ursuline College and becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
Sandy managed the adolescent unit at Windsor Psychiatric Hospital in Chagrin Falls for a number of years and then carried out the remainder of her professional career as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Connections Health Wellness Advocacy in Beachwood. Sandy dedicated her entire nursing career to helping and guiding thousands of people suffering from mental illnesses.
Sandy enjoyed family vacations with friends and loved ones. She especially enjoyed reading a good book in a beach chair by the ocean as her grandchildren would swim and build sandcastles. She also loved going on trips and cruises to interesting new places with Jim and her brothers and sisters.
Her life was an example to those her knew her on how to be a mother, wife, friend, and colleague with a strong work ethic. She will be sorely missed and her memory cherished by numerous loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Winston Kimble; daughter, Jamie (Tom) Bertone; son, Jeff (Dawn) Kimble; grandchildren, Jessalyn Bertone (Francisco Hohn), Jacob Bertone fianceé, Taylor Affolter), Emma and Jarrod Kimble; and her “grandchildren of the heart,” Johnnie and Alyssa Wigal. She is also survived by her large, loving group of sisters and brothers, Roy Wayne (Vernita) Parsons, Sharon (Gary “Pete”) Burrows, Doug (Pam) Buck, Susan (Rick) Metheney, Shelia (Ron) Gherke, and Sadie (John) Wigal, sisters-in-law, Kimberlene Folden and Sandra Harris; and brother-in-law, John Paul Kimble. In addition, Sandy was loved by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Eagle Parsons Buck; father, James W. Parson; step-father, Eugene Buck; an infant son; and a sister.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne Funeral Home), in Willoughby. Sandy will also have a funeral service near her birthplace at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at United Methodist Church, Route 16, three miles north of Grantsville, W.Va.
