Celebration of Life services for Joan Primrose (nee Windeler) Grose, 82, of Mentor, will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Church, 7193 Reynolds Road (Rt. 306), Mentor.
Mrs. Grose passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, in Mentor surrounded by her family.
Born July 6, 1934, in Hazel Hill, Nova Scotia, Canada, she had been a resident of Mentor for the past 43 years.
As an avid golfer, Joan was a long standing member of the Tuesday Ladies League at Blackbrook Golf Club and the Ladies League of Eastside Golfers. Her family was important and she loved being with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Grose graduated from the Hospital for Sick Children, School of Nursing in Toronto, Ontario, as a Registered Nurse. She retired after having been an active nurse for more than 50 years.
Joan was the beloved wife of 60 years to Douglas A. Grose; loving mother of Nancy (Pete) Grendze, Diana Hollander, Ainslie (Chris) Reschke and Amy Smith; cherished grandmother of Emily (Shay), Ryan (Tina Piscalko), Hannah, Alexandra (Ryan), and Victory; great-grandmother of Noah; “grandmother-in-law” of Heather; sister of Betty Dyer; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary C. “Bubba” Smith; grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley; parents, William and Agnes "Nan" (nee Clark) Windeler; and siblings, William Windeler, Gavin Windeler, Robert Windeler, and her beloved twin, Martha Jensen.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service. Burial will be private.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
