Obituary for Dennis M. Morgan
Funeral Mass for Dennis M. Morgan, 71, of Mentor, will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor. Father Tom Johns will officiate at the Mass.
Dennis died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at Symphony of Mentor of Parkinsons disease in the kind and loving hands of their staff and “our angels” – Hospice of the Western Reserve.
He was born Sept. 29, 1945 in Willoughby.
Dennis was the third generation owner of J. F. Morgan & Sons Realty in Willoughby since 1973, the owner of Brokers Lounge and a Willoughby Volunteer Fireman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed golf, bowling, traveling, poker, football, fishing and attending Super Bowls.
He was a member of Western Lake County Exchange Club, Deepwood Foundation, Lake County Liquor Association, Delay the Disease at Mentor Senior Center and a founding member of St John Vianney and was instrumental in the opening of All Saints School. He was also a lifetime member of the Elk’s, and served as Laketran President, Board of Realtors President in 1986, and Grand Jury Foreman in 1998.
Dennis was the beloved husband of 48 years to Carol A. (nee Schmidt) Morgan; loving father of Debbi L. Morgan and Douglas M. (Laura) Morgan; cherished grandfather of Dane and Drew. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy L. (nee Cawthon) Morgan and Jean (nee Chicketti) Morgan; and brother, Thomas Morgan.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby and 8:45 a.m. until the time of the Mass at St. John Vianney Church. Family and friends are asked to please meet at church on Saturday. Burial will be in Willoughby Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland OH 44110.
