The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Joan Richards can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to the family of Joan Richards. Back in 1966, I was a Senior at St. Peter High School doing some secretarial work for Fr. Nelson CAllahan. He asked about my hopes for the future. When I told him about my desire to teach, he sent me to see Joan. She and Father had been friends for a while. She gave me a job in her office. I was able to work my way through St. John's, came back to help with the transfer to Ursuline and have been teaching in some capacity since 1970. All because of two caring people who helped me to realize a dream. I will always be grateful to her for that opportunity. She was a good boss, a wonderful person and respected by the faculty and staff of the college. I only regret not staying in contact with her over the years. May she rest in peace.
