Obituary for Fred C Grodell Jr.
Funeral services for Fred C. Grodell Jr., 90, of Wickliffe, will be 10 a.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. The Rev. Robert A. Gaston will officiate.
Mr. Grodell passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at his residence.
Born June 25, 1926, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for the past 56 years.
Fred was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was also a member of the Wickliffe and Eastlake Senior Centers. Fred was a master organic gardener and an original founder and past President of the Erieside Rod and Gun Club. He loved art, specializing in painting and pyrographics and enjoyed shooting pool and bowling. He was always very active.
Mr. Grodell worked as a technical illustrator with Gould Ocean Systems/Westinghouse before his retirement.
Fred was the loving father of Fred C. “Rick” (Terri) Grodell III, and Laura L. (Robert) Sinkovic; cherished grandfather of Jason A. (Jessica) Sinkovic, Megan Sinkovic and Brandon Sinkovic; brother of Paul D. Grodell; and uncle of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beryldene Ruth (nee McCoy) Grodell; parents, Frederick C. Sr. and Irene (nee Nank) Grodell; and siblings, Donald Grodell and Helen Westerh.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park in Mayfield Village.
