Nancy Kay  Griffin
Born in Indiana, Pa., February 14, 1946, Nancy K. Griffin (nee Watkins) Strashensky, and on October 17, 2016, left this world for a better place. She was loved by everyone who ever touched her life. She was an inspiration to her husband, James of 27 years and her families.
Nancy was originally from Armagh, Pa., and has been a Lake County resident for 43 years, living in Willoughby before moving to Kirtland. She passed away at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
She loved her grandchildren, pets, gardening, sewing and taking long walks. Nancy was an exemplary old fashioned girl with a smile for everyone.
She was employed by Source One Technology in Mentor for 17 years.
Nancy was the beloved wife of 27 years to James P. Griffin; loving mother of Ronald J. (Renee) Strashensky, Richard (Linda) Strashensky and Sharon (Ken) Waddell; stepmother of James P. (Sonja) Griffin Jr., Ronald A. (Brenda) Griffin, Denise Atherley and Christopher M. (Jillian) Griffin; cherished grandmother of Mike, Daniel, Theresa, Olivia (Zak), Coty, Emmalynne, Chet, Tori, James, Jesse, Calvin, Andrew, Matthew, Benjamin, Marah, Brent and Jake; great-grandmother of Meyer; sister of Loretta Wakefield and Carol Smith; aunt of nieces and nephews; and friend of many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Bertha E. (nee Pittman) Watkins.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, where a Celebration of Life will also be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Private burial in All Souls Cemetery will be held at a later date.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Lake County Humane Society, 7564 Tyler Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060, or a Pet Recovery Program.
