Obituary for Richard C "Dick" Leland

Richard C. “Dick” Leland, age 78, of Willoughby, passed away Sept. 28, 2016, at Hospice of Western Reserve, surrounded by his family.
Dick was a U.S. Navy veteran and served aboard the U.S.S. Independence. He was a retired machine assembler, and had been a member First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, where he was an Elder and Deacon. Soccer was a big part of his life. He coached, refereed and loved to watch his children and grandchildren play.
Dick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois (Mallula) Leland; children, Scott (Jen), Todd, Melinda (Nick) Turner, Chad (Kim), and Jason (Kathy); grandchildren, Shawn, Chris, Nicholas, Peter, Skyler, Natalie, David, Jennah, Amanda, Jonathan, Chad, Austin, Alyssa, and Keira; and sisters, Debbie (Steve) Crouch and Carol Beckwith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester A. Leland and Marion (Herbst) Baker; brother, Ronald A. Leland; and grandson, Matthew J. Leland.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the First Presbyterian Church, 4785 Shankland Road, Willoughby.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
