Graveside services for Helene L. (nee Slobodzian) Abersold, 89, of Mentor, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Willoughby Memorial Gardens, 38650 Lakeshore Blvd., Willoughby.
Mrs. Abersold passed away Friday, June 17, 2016, at Chardon Healthcare Center in Chardon.
Born April 11, 1927, in Leechburg, Pa., she had been a resident of Lake County for 62 years, living in Eastlake before moving to Mentor.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Helene also loved animals, especially her dog, Bruin and enjoyed cooking. She was a member of the Grant School P.T.A., attended she attended St. Mary's Church in Mentor and most recently Painesville Assembly of God, and loved helping others.
Helene worked for the Erie Railroad, TRW, and as a realtor for Smythe-Cramer.
She was the loving mother of Susan E. (William) Schaller, Kathryn A. Abersold, Robert P. (Kimberly) Abersold and Thomas W. (Jennifer) Abersold; cherished grandmother of 10; great-grandmother of one; sister of Raymond Sloan, Dorothy Dunn, Marjorie Townsend and Stephanie Wasylink; and aunt of nieces and nephews.
Helene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert P. Abersold; parents, Raymond and Elizabeth (nee Stano) Slobodzian; and siblings, Mary Witt, Roselyn Terrance, Evelyn Rusinko, Thomas Slobodzian, Fred Slobodzian and Pete Slobodzian.
Family will receive friends from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where a Celebration of Life will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday.
