In memory of Adam J. Galletti, 80, a 43-year resident of Eastlake, who passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016. He left this world peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family.
Adam was born June 28, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
He married the love of his life, Janice Galletti (nee Thompson) October 1, 1955, and they celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2015. He was the wonderful father of David Galletti (Alicia) of Eastlake, Douglas Galletti (Kris) of Allen, Tex., and Daniel Galletti (Tina) of Eastlake; loving grandpa of Austin, Kassandra, Kalvin, Joseph and Andrew; brother of Helen Kovalick of Kingston, Pa.; and the uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Adam was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Anna Galletti; siblings, Theresa, Julia Crofchick and Frank; and mother-in-law, Stella Thompson.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for five years during the Korean War as a member of the VF-41 Fighter Squadron stationed aboard the aircraft carriers: U.S.S Hornet, Midway, Coral Sea, Bennington and Lake Champlain. Adam was a former supervisor for White Motors Corporation. He also worked as a store sales manager at JC Penney’s in the Richmond Mall. He retired in 1987, after working for Nuclear Security with Burns International at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant.
He was a former Chaplin of VFW Collinwood Post 2926, as well as having served as treasurer of the Euclid Park PTA. He was an Order of the Arrow Arrowman, who volunteered for over 30 years with the Boy Scouts of America. He served as a Cub Master and committee member of Pack 26 in Cleveland and Pack 83 in Eastlake. He was a committee member and Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 90 in Eastlake. He also helped as a summer camp and merit badge counselor. He was an active member of the Willoughby South High Booster Club for 25 years, where he was Booster of the Year in 1998. He was also a member of the Willoughby South High Band Boosters. Adam was a master builder of model ships and loved working with his hands. He was an avid fisherman and bowler, a marksman skeet shooter, enjoyed gardening and building LEGO with his grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where a funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, January 30th. The service will be officiated by Deacon Paul Hlabse. Interment will be in Knollwood Cemetery.
