Obituary for Timothy Michael Gamber

Timothy Michael Gamber
Funeral Mass for Timothy Michael Gamber will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 at
Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Father Timothy Kalista will
officiate at Mass.
Tim was born Dec. 7, 1968 at Euclid Hospital and grew up in a great neighborhood on the
northeast side of Cleveland. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1987. He bravely served in
the U.S. Army and returned home to renew his love of being a basketball coach. He coached
at his Alma Mater, VASJ, St. Peter Chanel, Garfield Heights, and one last season at VASJ. He received many awards, including Coach of the Year. Tim dedicated himself to developing the skill of his players on the basketball court and teaching them to work hard, be positive and strive for greatness every day.
Unfortunately, Tim was diagnosed with acute Lymphatic Leukemia in 2005. This began a long and courageous battle, including a bone marrow transplant, graft versus host disease and several bouts with skin cancer. Through it all, Tim remained positive and strong, never complaining, and coining the
phrase, “stay vertical”, to remain motivated and positive. He finally succumbed to his battle in the
early hours of November 25, 2015, surrounded by his loving friends and family.
Tim was a loving and dedicated son, and an amazing brother, the best uncle in the world and a loyal friend.
He is survived by his loving parents, Mike and Mary (Main) Gamber of Cleveland; dearest brother, Michael and his wife, Amy of San Antonio, Texas, and dearest sister, Amy Gamber Gezann, and her husband, Rich, niece, Kayla, and nephew, Ryan Gezann of Wickliffe; and the beautiful love of Tim’s life, Christa.
The family would like to thank the amazing doctors and staff at the Cleveland Clinic. Including
the compassionate and loving care he received at the Palliative care unit, Euclid Hospital, Euclid Rehab, and all of our friends and family for all of your love, care and support during this journey. Stay Vertical!
The family will receive friends at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St., (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor, 3 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
