Funeral services for Richard L. Allen, 82, of Painesville, will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby.
Mr. Allen passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Born Feb. 26, 1933, in Cleveland, he had been a lifetime Lake County resident.
He was a member of the Willoughby Eagles Golf League, Slovenian Club, and Hungarian Culture Club, loved bowling, polena and golfing, having worked at the Lost Nation Golf Course for 24 years with his son and best friend, Mitch Allen.
He was the beloved husband of Carol L. (nee Myers) Allen; loving father of Victoria Huebner, Mike (Kelly) Allen, Dan Allen, Joy (Mark) Sherry, Mitch (Linda) Allen and Dave Allen; cherished grandfather of 15; great-grandfather of 12; brother of Thea (Kenneth) Maynard and Eileen Ricketts; stepfather of Evon (Kenny) Moles, Robin (Dick) Swearingen and Michael (Patricia) Hissam; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Max Huebner; parents, Fred and Agatha (nee Ladig) Allen; sister, Myrtle Rood; and brother-in-law, Ken Rood.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Abbey of Willoughby. Burial will be private.
