Obituary for William R Walsh

Funeral Mass for William R. Walsh, 92, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Father Tom Elsasser will officiate the Mass. (Family and friends are asked to please meet at church.)
William passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born Aug. 28, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., he had been a resident of Lake County for more than 75 years, living in Wickliffe before moving to Mentor.
William was a U.S. Air Force veteran, member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Mentor, Willoughby Knights of Columbus Council 2886, member of the Fourth Degree Cardinal Newman General Assembly, member of the TRW Ex-Serviceman’s Club, and a faithful Great Lakes Mall walker. He also loved long Sunday drives and was a faithful Indians and Browns fan.
Mr. Walsh had worked as a machinist at the TRW Tapco Plant.
He was the dear father-in-law of Anna Walsh; cherished grandfather of Jennifer (Christian) Barr, Nicole (Robert) Blum, and Michael (Susan) Walsh; step-grandfather of Larry (Niki) Myers and Joe Myers; great-grandfather of Nathan, Tyler, Colin, Julia, Colton, Max, Ava, Ellie and Charlotte; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Ann (nee Buttgereit) Walsh; son, Thomas P. Walsh; parents, William E. and Margaret (nee Keating) Walsh; and siblings, Betty Black, Lee Horton and Gerald E. Walsh.
Burial will be at Mentor Cemetery.
