Obituary for William J Giffin
Funeral Mass for William J. Giffin, 80, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Father Tom Johns will officiate.
William passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022, at his residence.
Born May 20, 1942, in Boston, Mass., he had been a resident of Lake County for more than 52 years.
He was a member of the Willoughby Rotary Club, where he had served as a former treasurer, served on the board of Share A Vision, and was honored to chaperone on the Honor Flights for World War II veterans. William loved reading, going to Mentor High School sporting events and watching his grandchildren play sports.
William was the beloved husband of 58 years to Stella (nee Papaleo) Giffin; loving father of Diane L. (Wayne) Stefancin and Debbie A. Godfrey (fiancé, Mark Radovanic); cherished grandfather of Christopher Boucher, Victoria Godfrey, Lauren Stefancin and Justin Stefancin; brother-in-law of Dave Hersman, Joseph and Andrew Papaleo; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Sara (nee Rankin) Giffin.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
