Obituary for William S Devor

William S. Devor, 71, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Wickliffe Country Place nursing home.
He was born Aug. 1, 1950, in Cleveland, the son of William R. and Jean Paton (nee Stuckert) Devor.
William graduated from West Geauga High School in Chester Township in 1969. Following graduation, he attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa., and Malone College in Canton. He finished his studies in medical records technology at Tri-C Community College in Cleveland.
Mr. Devor retired from Cuyahoga County Health and Human Services. In addition to living in Chester Township, he had also resided in Warrensville Heights, Lakewood, Euclid and Wickliffe.
He was an avid traveler, taking extended vacations in Europe and Hawaii. William also loved solo road trips all around America, visiting relatives. He loved all kinds of music, especially classic rock, soul and R&B, and enjoyed collecting music as far back as the early 1960s. A longtime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Warrensville Heights, Mr. Devor was an active member of the chancel choir and other church organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James C. Devor; and niece, Amber Devor.
William is survived by his sister, Nancy (Charles D.) Garrett of Chandler, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Cheryl Devor of Willoughby Hills; nephews, Douglas (Carolyn) Devor of Olmsted Falls, Devin (Emily Dixon) Devor of Columbus and Andy Britton (Kayla Iacovino); and niece, Katelyn (William) Snyder of Wickliffe.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, where a Celebration of Life service will follow at 11 a.m.
