Obituary for Vernon O Swope

Vernon O. Swope, 88, of Willoughby Hills, passed away Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, at Maple Ridge Senior Living in Willoughby.
Born Jan. 22, 1934, in Cleveland, he had been a lifetime resident of Lake County.
Vernon was a U.S. Air Force veteran and member of Wildwood Yacht Club, where he served as Fleet Captain and trustee. Vernon loved boating, fishing, hunting and had built a family cabin in Pennsylvania.
He was the beloved husband of 68 years, Dorothy F. (nee Kinkopf) Swope; loving father of Kern P. (Millie) Swope, Jeffrey L. Swope and Robert H. (Lisa) Swope; cherished grandfather of Robert B. (Shannon), James C. (Nicole), Steven J. (Cortney), Gary P. (Amanda), Laura A., and Kelly A.; great-grandfather of Landon, Jonathan, Adriana, Sadie, Madison, Audrey and Alynn; brother of Betty Money, Harold (Janet) Swope and Evon (Ronal) Souder; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Ora Swope; brother, Robert (Marilyn, dec.) Swope; and brother-in-law, Richard Money.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, with a Celebration of Life at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be private.
