Obituary for Thomas Richard "Sonny Harris" Hairston
Thomas Richard Hairston, 79, of Willoughby, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at Rae Ann Rehabilitation Center in Westlake.
Born March 12, 1941, in Weirton, W.Va., he had lived in Lake County for 50 years before recently moving to Westlake.
Richard retired from Laurelwood/Windsor Center in Willoughby. He was a member of the Lakeland Civic Choir in Mentor, and a devoted father. He was hardworking, always there for others, with a beautiful soul. Richard will be missed so much. His hobbies included bowling, fishing, hunting, and singing lead with local bands as “Sonny Harris” in the Willoughby-Eastlake area.
He was the loving father of Lisa Hairston of Cleveland and Gena Hairston; cherished grandfather of Damon Washington II, Mayaan Hairston and Antwyne Stoves Jr.; brother of Jeanette Johnson and Frank Hairston Jr.; and uncle of nieces and nephews. He also leaves his former wife, Nancy Hairston-Palicia.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Elvie (nee Bloom) and Frank Hairston.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be held after the holidays. Thank you to all for your love and support.
