Obituary for Sharon K Wittenmyer

Sharon K. (neé Hanratty) Wittenmyer, 83, of Mentor, passed away May 15, 2022, at her home.
Born Sept. 24, 1938, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Leona (neé Klemm) Hanratty.
She attended Doan School and Patrick Henry Junior High in Cleveland before moving to East Cleveland, where she graduated from Kirk Junior High and Shaw High in 1956. Sharon was a member of DKO grade club and Theta Rho Phi Sorority. She worked at the Shaw Hayden Show and at National City Bank in downtown Cleveland.
Sharon was baptized April 23, 1939, a believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and has eternal life with Jesus in Heaven (Mark 16:16). She was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, English District. Sharon was baptized, confirmed, and married at Mt. Olive by Reverend Stein. Her confirmation verse was 1 Peter 5:7 “Turn all your anxiety over to God because He cares for you.” Sharon was a faithful member of Mt. Olive serving as Sunday/VBS teacher, choir member, LWML representative, and potluck provider. She also was a great cook, caregiver, and cancer street captain.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Wittenmyer, Jr., whom she married May 25, 1957; daughters, Rev. Janet Wittenmyer of Willard, and Laura (Bob) Vollman of Mentor; son, Lloyd (Lanny) Wittenmyer III of Austinburg; four granddaughters, Tiffany Wittenmyer of Lakewood, Katherine and Amber Wittenmyer of Euclid and Christina Vollman of Mentor; five grandsons, Patrick Wittenmyer of Lakewood, Chris Wittenmyer of Rock Creek, Gabriel and Nathaniel Hoerger of Chicago, Robert Vollman of Mentor; six great-grandchildren, Ashlee (born Sept. 24), CJ, Brycen, Abrionna, Micah and Mia; brothers-in-law, John (Betsy) Wittenmyer of Houston, Bill (Marilyn) Wittenmyer of Strongsville; and sister-in-law, Barbara Wittenmyer of Austinburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn; brother, Patrick; and brothers-in-law, Bill Gell and Nelson Wittenmyer.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 20, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Faith Lutheran Church, 8125 Mentor Ave., Mentor, officiated by Pastor Jonathan McCall. Burial will be at Mentor Municipal Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at Faith Lutheran Church.
