Obituary

Ronald E. Rommel, 83, of Mentor, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born Feb. 14, 1937, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for the past 45 years.
Ron was a U.S. Army veteran and member of St. John Vianney Church in Mentor. He was an avid sports fan, a great Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers fan, enjoyed cooking and golf, and loved being with his family, especially his wife.
Mr. Rommel was a retired employee of Reliance Electric/Rockwell Automation, with 30 years of service.
Ron was the beloved husband of 59 years to Charlotte V. (nee Zola) Rommel; loving father of Craig M. Rommel and Lee M. (Zar) Rommel; dear brother of Marianne Cathis; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen (nee Pristoff) Rommel; sister, Dorothy (Charles, dec.) Dixon; and brother-in-law, Doug Cathis.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to The American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.

Please accept my deepest sympathy and heartfelt thoughts at this difficult time. There is so little one can say,but my heart goes out to you all. I will truly miss Ron. He was such a wonderful person.
