Obituary for Robert Lewis "Bob" Jones

Robert Lewis “Bob” Jones, 68, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, due to complications during blood-vessel surgery, which is ironic because Bob was known for his enormous heart in the figurative sense, of course.
Bob was born April 15, 1954, in Anderson, Ind.
He graduated from Bay High School in 1972, attended Cleveland State University and was a graduate of Denver Automotive and Diesel College. He could fix just about anything, be the problem mechanical or emotional. He worked as an auto mechanic in Denver and Cleveland before serving as a bench technician at Component Repair Technologies in Mentor for the past 15 years. Bob enjoyed auto and bicycle racing and loved music, and he’d make you love it too if you ever heard him sing karaoke. Bob almost never missed a Sunday at the Church of the Blessed Hope in Chesterland. The Share the Blessings program was especially precious to him; he organized and delivered holiday gifts to underprivileged families in Geauga County for more than 25 years.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife for 44 years, Carol (nee Curtis) Jones; adored children, Stuart, Kyle (Jillian), Brian (Lauren) and Ellen Olivia (Greg) Pratt; and sisters, Karin Sue Jones and Elizabeth Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Roberta Jones, and brother, Casey.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2) in Mentor. A celebration of Bob's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Church of the Blessed Hope, 7450 Wilson Mills Rd., Chesterland.
In his memory, rather than sending flowers (to which Carol is allergic), please consider donating to the Share the Blessings Fund at the Church of the Blessed Hope, P.O. Box 853, Chesterland, OH 44026 (Make checks payable to the church and include "Share the Blessings/Jones" in the memo line.) Alternatively, gifts in Bob's memory to support research in aortic disease at University Hospitals would be greatly appreciated. To donate, go to UHGiving.org/Jones.
