Obituary for Richard A Hargis

Funeral Mass for Richard A. Hargis, 90, of Mentor, will be 12 noon Wednesday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Father Alex Clark will officiate.
Richard passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Enclave of Newell Creek in Mentor.
Born Dec. 1, 1931, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for 55 years.
Richard was a U.S. Army veteran, member of St. John Vianney Church in Mentor, and enjoyed golf, traveling, going to casinos and being with his family, especially on family vacations.
Mr. Hargis was a retired postal worker and member of the U.S. Postal Workers Union.
He was the loving father of Thomas (Nancy) Ungrady Sr. and Richard A. Hargis Jr. (Molly Peet); cherished grandfather of Stefanie Hargis, Thomas (Bonnie) Ungrady Jr., David (Sherri) Ungrady, Robert Ungrady and Stephen (Carl) Ungrady; step grandfather of Tina (Chris) Desh; brother of Arthur Hargis and Vivian Forsthoffer; brother-in-law of Peggy Hargis; great-grandfather and uncle of many.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris R. (nee Clares) Hargis; step grandson, Christopher Rivituso; parents, Adrian Arthur and Cecilia (nee Grinstead) Hargis; siblings, Donald Hargis and Phil (Shirley, dec.) Hargis; and sister-in-law, Jan Hargis.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
