Obituary for Richard J George

Richard J. George, 87, of Mentor, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at his residence.
Born Feb. 4, 1933, in Cambridge, he had been a 54 year resident of Lake County, living in Timberlake and Wickliffe before moving to Mentor.
Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Mentor, V.F.W. Post 8295 in Mentor, and the Mentor Senior Center, where he enjoyed many friendships. He was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Wickliffe, St. Justin Martyr Church in Eastlake, where he taught PSR, Wickliffe Knights of Columbus, and Willoughby Eagles Aerie 2300. Richard was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing.
Mr. George was the owner of Dick George Ins. Agency until his retirement.
Richard was the beloved husband of 65 years to Barbara J. (nee Himes) George; loving father of Dennis Michael (Kris) George, Denise (Jim) DiFrangia, Kim George, and Sheila (Scott) Rosciszewski; father-in-law of Jim LoPiccolo; cherished grandfather of 15; great-grandfather of six; brother of Sylvia Sullivan and David (Chris) George; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Rhonda LoPiccolo and Jacqueline George; parents, David C. and Denise D. (nee Boulet) George; and siblings, Delores (Adolph, dec.) Legerski, Sandra (Louis, dec.) Steiner, Larry (Bonnie, dec.) George and David George.
Due to Covid-19, private services were held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial was at Mentor Cemetery.
