Obituary for Maureen Ahern

Funeral Mass for Maureen Ahern, 83, of Willoughby, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Maureen passed peacefully at her home January 2, 2021.
Born Feb. 2, 1937, in Mentor to Walter and Helen Ahern, Maureen graduated from Mentor High School in 1955, received her bachelor’s degree in education from Kent State, and earned her master’s degree from Case Western Reserve.
Her greatest joy came from teaching young children for nearly 50 years at Anderson Elementary and LCDC Preschool in Lyndhurst, and spending time with her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Maureen was a devout Catholic and was a member of Immaculate Conception in Willoughby. She was a world traveler, family historian, and die-hard Republican. She enjoyed reading, crafting, and gardening.
She is survived by her sister, Karen Klyn; four nieces; two nephews; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cherished lifelong friends.
Maureen was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia A. Jossart; and brother, Michael Ahern.
Maureen’s “Aunt Mo’s” big heart and beautiful smile will be missed.
Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
