Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Gress
Funeral Mass for Mary Elizabeth (nee Barker) Gress, 84, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor.
Mary passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at UH Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born Sept. 19, 1937, in Ford City, Pa., she had been a resident of Mentor for more than 50 years.
Mary was a member of St. Bede the Venerable Church, where she was an active member of the prayer group. She was also a member of the ALANON group at St. Mary’s of Painesville. Family was very important and always first in her heart. Mary opened her heart and home to anyone in need and was always the rock in which many relied upon.
She was the loving mother of Mary L. Cirelli (fiancé, Robert Gum), Michelle D. Orlicki, Paul W. (Kim) Gress and Pamela S. (Andrew) Hudlett; cherished grandmother of Jonathon Wright, Samantha (Cassidy) Cirelli, Christopher, Michaela and Carly Cirelli, Heather and Rick Orlicki, Donald Patrick and Mikayla Gress, Madalyn Gress, and Andrea Hudlett; great-grandmother of Hope, Dominic and Carson; and sister of Sandie Masirovits.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don W. Gress in 2007; son, Donny R. Gress in 2000 (Mary Ann, survives); son-in-law, Rick Orlicki; grandchildren, Anthony and Brittany (Tim, survives); parents, Matthew and Laura (nee Wray) Barker; and sister, Shirley (Mike, dec.) Vah.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
