Obituary for Mary Catherine Christy
Funeral Mass for Mary Catherine (nee Coyne) Christy, 101, of South Euclid, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Church of Gesu, 2470 Miramar Blvd., University Heights. (Family and friends are asked to meet at church.)
Mary passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
She was born July 17, 1921, in Youngstown.
Mary was a member of the Church of Gesu in University Heights, and a former member of St. Margaret Mary Parish in South Euclid until it closed, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Margaret Mary and the 50 Plus Club. She was also a member of the Irish American Club-East Side Inc. in Euclid.
She was the loving mother of Kathleen A. Christy and James J. (Sandi) Christy; cherished grandmother of Rosemary “Rosie” and Susanne “Susie”; and aunt of nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James J. Christy; parents, John L. and Catherine V. (nee Derrig) Coyne; and siblings, Nancy Coyne and John Coyne.
Burial will follow the Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
