Obituary for Margaret M. Gross

Margaret M. (nee McGarry) Gross, 93, of Euclid, passed away May 18, 2023. Beloved wife of 68 years to the late Richard J. Gross, she was the loving mother of Mary Kay (Bill) Cervenik, Sister Joanne Gross, OSU, Donna Michals (Jim, deceased), and Robert (Ann Fazio) Gross; devoted grandmother of Bill Cervenik, Jr. (Jim Lowery), Katie (Chris) McMahon, Alexandra (Mike) Trueman, Bridgette (Thomas) McAndrew, Elyse (Joe) Youngs, Maggie Michals, Jack Michals, and Danny Michals; great-grandmother of Emma, Michael, Mackenzie, Kennedy, Maddie, Patrick, and Maverick; dear sister of Catherine Zbiegien, Jack (Meg) McGarry, Betty (Tom) Wirsing, and Theresa Banc; sister-in-law of Ellen McGarry and Pat McGarry; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Michael J. “Tunney” (Mary Ellen, dec.) McGarry, Patrick McGarry, and Larry McGarry; sister Nancy (Neil, dec.) Gallagher, brothers-in-law, Frank Zbiegien and Ron Banc; and parents, Michael J. and Catherine (Mara) McGarry.

A long-time employee of the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, member of the Christ Child Society, the Irish American Club-East Side, and a beloved friend and co-worker, she was a lover of parties and gatherings of all kinds.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 175 East 200th St., Euclid. Burial will follow the Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.

Donations may be made to the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, Hospice of the Western Reserve, or another charity of your choice.
