Obituary for Lorraine A Murphy

Funeral Mass for Lorraine A. (nee Sexton) Murphy, 97, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Lorraine passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
She was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Cleveland.
Lorraine was a founding member of St. Robert’s Church in Euclid, was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Mentor and was a banking professional in Euclid for many years.
She was the loving mother of Kathleen C. Payerchin, James P. Murphy Jr. (Karen Schuster) and Maureen A. Valyko; cherished grandmother of Richard M. (Lisa) Payerchin, Moira (Jerry) Cavell, Anne Payerchin Wilce, David Payerchin (fiancée, Lindsey Kovach), Matthew James (Katie) Murphy, Kelly Robin (Joe) Monaghan, Patrick Robert (Stacey) Murphy, Carla (Christopher) Valyko Ronnebaum, and Eric (Amanda) Valyko; great-grandmother of Miranda, Ava, Gino, OIivia, Leonardo, Mya, Sydney, Lua Rose, Lily Mae, Cody, Kyle, Ethan, Molly, Mackenzie, Colin, Gavin, Noah, Jackson, Aiden, Clare and Maren; dear sister of Frank (Kay) Sexton, Bernadette Morgan, Lawrence (Janice) Sexton and Cecelia Sexton; sister-in-law of Jim Duda; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James P. Murphy in 2006; sons-in-law, Richard Payerchin and Ronald Valyko; parents, Francis J. and Agnes (nee Haggerty) Sexton; sisters, Coletta Ryan, Judy Duda and Alice Ryan; and brother-in-law, Joseph Morgan.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
