Obituary for Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Timbers

Funeral Mass for Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Timbers, 94, of Willoughby, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Larry passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born April 9, 1928, in Cleveland, he had been a longtime resident of Lake County living in Mentor and Concord Township before moving to Willoughby. He had also resided many winters in Naples, Fla.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Tank Battalion for five years during World War II and in the Korean War. Larry was a 1946 graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, received his BA in Administration from Cleveland State University and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Painesville, Gunny Hall in Mentor and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2300 in Willoughby. He loved golf, exercise, always stayed up on the latest technology, and had perfected the art of story and joke telling. Oh, was it mentioned, he LOVED golf!
Mr. Timbers was a manufacturing representative for his own industrial equipment company for more than 40 years, and was the owner and developer of Small Business Park in Mentor for more than 12 years.
Larry was the beloved husband of Martha (nee Foulkes) Vogt Timbers; loving father of Amy (Bill) Timbers Kammerer of Bend, Ore., Mary Jo Timbers (Paul Mrozek) of Mentor, Michelle Gaffney (Terry Reese) of Harpersfield, and Brenda (Chris) Balla of Powell; cherished grandfather of Katie, Emily, Mark, Cassie, Beth, Greg, Ali, Sydney (Noah), Megan and Cameron; and father-in-law of Mike Sattelmaier.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ceal (nee Vasko) Timbers; daughter, Colleen Sattelmaier; brother, Richard (Carol, dec.) Timbers; son-in-law, David Gaffney; faithful Golden Retriever, Ambi; and many other dear family members.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at The Abbey of Willoughby (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby. Burial will follow the Mass at Mentor Cemetery.
