Obituary for Kathleen Elizabeth Gruden
Kathleen Elizabeth (nee Toomey) Gruden, 81, of Perry, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at her residence.
Born Nov. 26, 1939, in Cleveland, she had been a resident of Lake County for 20 years, and had previously lived in Eastlake.
Kathleen was an avid reader and enjoyed camping and swimming. She especially treasured spending time with her family and helping raise her grandchildren.
She was the loving mother of Deborah A. (Kevin) Zimmer, Stephen P. (Christine) Gruden, Karen L. Hedrich, Elaine M. Gruden (Bill Janda), Jeffrey W. Gruden, Michael J. Gruden and Nicolas A. Gruden; mother-in-law of Cindi Gruden and Joelle Gruden; cherished grandmother of Angela (Jesse) Bischoff, Maria Jovanovic, Natalie McLemore, Stephen Gruden Jr., Leza (Doug) Meyer, April Gruden, Krystal Gruden, Michael Andrulis, Christi (Phil) Plymale, Ariel Isabella (Chealsea), Lillian Hedrich, William Hedrich, Kevin Lose, and Amber Clifton; great-grandmother of Elizabeth Bischoff, Jesse McLemore, Kayden Gruden, Leigha Leisure, Maddy Leisure, Adrien Meyer, Dustin Meyer, Vinny Virostek, Waylon Virostek, Jayden Flender, Brice Flender, Dillon McCoy, Cameron Andrulis, Dalton Hopkins, Ava Hopkins, Michael Andrulis III, Arya Andrulis, Johnathan Mitchell, Thomas Plymale, Tristan Plymale, Savannah Plymale, Gianna Tomic, Mateo Tomic and Maelynn Bestgen; sister of Suzanne Spinks, Patrick Toomey, Eilene Balas and Maureen Ferguson; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was preceded in death by Frank J.P. Gruden in 2008; sons, Frank P. Gruden and Richard P. Gruden; parents, William and Eilene (nee Castetter) Toomey; siblings, William (Barbara, dec.) Toomey, Maryellen (Roy, dec.) Pfundstein, and Margaret (Lance, dec.) Jones; and brothers-in-law, Raleigh Spinks, George Balas and Ron Ferguson.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow the service at All Souls Cemetery.
