Obituary for John M "Jack" Hager

John M. “Jack” Hager, 87, of Mentor, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born Dec. 18, 1934, in Cleveland, he had been a lifetime resident of Lake County, living in Willoughby before moving to Mentor.
Jack was a member of the Holden Arboretum, enjoyed hiking, walking and the outdoors, loved antiquing and going to antique shows, woodworking and building things. He also loved and was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mr. Hager was a master plumber and steamfitter and had worked for more than 50 years at A.J. Parker Plumbing & Heating, retiring in 2005.
Jack was the beloved husband of 24 years to Phyllis R. (nee McKean) Hager; loving father of Cheryl A. (Steve) Daubenspeck, Michele Dressler, Kelli (Dave) Slagle and Robin Porter (George Montague); cherished grandfather of Claire Daubenspeck, Joshua Porter and Michael Karpovitch; dear brother of Janet Hill, Gene Hager (Beverly Huff), and Terry (Sue) Hager; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eben S. and Marian (nee Fitzgerald) Hager; grandson, Matthew Dressler; first wife, Florence Hager; and brother-in-law, Robert Hill.
Family will receive friends for a Memorial Visitation and Celebration of Jack’s Life from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
