Obituary for John A Fellows

Funeral Mass for John A. Fellows, 79, of Mentor, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor.
John passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Danbury of Mentor Senior Living with his wife, son and granddaughter at his side.
Born Aug. 26, 1943, in Edinboro, Pa., he had lived in Georgia and Florida before finally returning to Lake County 15 years ago.
John grew up on a dairy farm and left Pennsylvania to head to Chicago, where he graduated first in his class with a degree in engineering at DeVry University. After college, he settled in Ohio, where he met his future wife on a blind date with his brother and future sister-in-law. A year later, they married on Aug. 1, 1964, and lived in Euclid. After almost 17 years working as an electrical engineer, John and a business partner started their own company, Controls Unlimited, which they ran for 20 years and had a career that took his family to Ohio, Georgia, Florida and back to Ohio. John took his final job at his son’s company, where he worked for six years before retiring.
John enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf and doing puzzles with his wife, Joyce “Peaches.” He traveled most of the United States with his wife and three sons. Later in life, John played RummiKub at the Senior Center and remained full of humor for his almost four years at Danbury.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Joyce M. “Peaches” (nee D’Amico) Fellows; loving sons, Joseph (Deborah) Fellows, Jeffrey A. Fellows and John Michael (Bonnie) Fellows; cherished grandchildren, Kelsie, Jared, Justice, Tasmin, Keegan, Megahen, Wyatt, Charlie, Clay, Paige and Mia; four-legged friend, Bailey; brother, Jerald R. (Patricia) Fellows; and nieces and nephews, Jami, Theresa, Robbie, Steve, Brad, Christine and Mark.
John was preceded in death by his parents, George D. and Ruth A. (nee Avis) Fellows.
They family wishes to express a special thanks to their "second family" at Danbury.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. An additional visitation will take place from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass Friday at St. Bede’s. Burial will be held at Mentor Municipal Cemetery at a later date.
