Obituary for John "Jack" Elersich

John “Jack” Elersich, 75, of Mentor, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, in Mentor.
Born Dec. 11, 1946, in East Cleveland, he had been a lifetime resident of Lake County, living the majority of his life in Mentor.
Jack was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran of a foreign war and a recipient of a Purple Heart. He loved sports, sports betting especially baseball and the Cleveland Indians. Jack also known as “Poker Jack,” enjoyed playing cards and casino junkets. “We know and hope that he is winning big in the casino in the sky. We will miss you Jackie!”
Mr. Elersich was the owner and operator of Mentor Tool, a machine shop, for more than 40 years.
Jack was the beloved husband of 25 years to Kim K. (nee Forsberg) Elersich; loving father of John D. Elersich and Terese (Kevin) Goulette; cherished grandfather “Papa Jack” to Kelsey Lancon, Anna Goulette, Chaz Goulette and Shane (Caitlyn) Goulette; great-grandfather of Poppy; dear brother of David F. (Laura) Elersich, Raymond J. (Jennifer) Elersich, Kathleen Ann Elersich, James A. (Maria) Elersich and Michael A. (Shari) Elersich; and uncle of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack E. and Catherine M. (nee Anderson) Elersich; and sister, Ellen F. Elersich.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, with a Veteran’s service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date.
