"Together Again"
Jean F. (nee Spice) Schaefer, 87, of Mentor, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at UH TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Born Feb. 20, 1936, in Cleveland, she grew up in Euclid and was a lifetime resident of Lake County, living in Wickliffe and Mentor-on-the-Lake before moving to Mentor.
Jean loved the gospel and studying the Bible and wanted to share God’s love with everyone. She loved interacting and being around people and her kindness to everyone was expressed by always putting other’s needs above her own.
She was the loving mother of Sharon J. (Mike) Cooper; cherished grandmother of Kelly (Michael) Marcella, Matthew (Amy) Pearson, Michael Saeger, Justin Saeger, Mitchell Cooper (Andrew Wallentine Cooper), and Allison Cooper; great-grandmother of Avery, Carter, Evelyn and Riley; sister-in-law of Patricia Spice; and aunt of nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert L. Schaefer in 2007; daughter, Karen Saeger; parents, William and Fern (nee MacDonald) Spice; and brother, Donald Spice.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor, with Prayers to be said at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mentor Cemetery.
