Obituary for James A Bohnsack
Funeral Mass for James A. Bohnsack, 79, of Mentor, will be 12 Noon Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Father Tom Johns will officiate. The Mass will be live streamed on the St. John Vianney Church website.
James passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Born Dec. 2, 1941, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for 77 years, living in Willoughby before moving to Mentor.
He was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Mentor, where he was an active member of the Church Festival Committee, and involved in other committees at the church. James was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council Don Bosco #4801 Third Degree, a Fourth Degree Cardinal Newman General Assembly, and member of the Cleveland War Veterans John Paul II Post 1959. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. William S. Woods, and member of the U.S.S. William M. Wood DDR-715 Association. James loved baseball and both playing and watching his kids and grandchildren play sports. He was known as a kind and loving man.
Mr. Bohnsack retired from C.E.I. After his retirement, he worked for the Ursuline Sisters at the Mother House, Willo-Transportation driving school children, and the Lake County Captains baseball team.
James was the beloved husband of 50 years to Lucretia A. (nee Abbott) Bohnsack; loving father of Kimberly A. Jones, Lucretia A. Bohnsack (Brian Waszkowski), Jami L. Ackley, and J. Michael Bohnsack (Jennifer Conrad); cherished grandfather of Schyler E. Bohnsack, Christina Bohnsack (Shane Hanley), Dustin Bohnsack, Kelsea Ponton, Miranda Ackley, Mickey Bohnsack, Julia Jones and Jayden Bohnsack; great-grandfather of Camden Hauge and Margaret Hanley; brother of Janice (James) Neary; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph W. and Valerie R. (nee Hazen) Bohnsack; and brother, Kenneth Bohnsack.
Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass at St. John Vianney Church. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
