Geraldine S. (nee Manis) Goines, 85, of Mentor, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Preserve Senior Living at Mentor Ridge.
Born Nov. 12, 1935, in Cleveland, she had been a lifetime resident of Lake County.
Geraldine loved church, Sunday school, Mission trips and was active with “MOPS.” She was also a member of the AWANIS group, was an active member and enjoyed the Mentor Senior Center, and loved to travel, especially to Florida.
She was a retired employee of the Mentor Public Schools, where she had worked in the cafeteria.
Geraldine was the beloved wife of 66 years to James T. Goines; loving mother of James T. “Tom” (Kris) Goines Jr., Daniel W. Goines, Brenda S. Hadden (John Borsukoff), and Linda L. (Rod) Merrill; cherished grandmother of Victoria, Melanie, Ashley, James III, Jessica and Jaimie; great-grandmother of Audrey, Adrianna, Luke, Vincent, Ava, Mark, Abe and Erin; sister of Rose Haston, Marlene Lepley, Clares Maniaci, and Richard Manis; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Marcella (nee Smith) Manis; grandson, Aaron; siblings, Vincent Manis, Phillip Manis, and infant brother, Gerald Manis; sister-in-law, Betty Manis; and brothers-in-law, Edward Haston and Paul Lepley.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow the service at Mentor Cemetery.
