Obituary for Gerald Allen "Jerry" Cook

Gerald Allen “Jerry” Cook, 63, a lifetime resident of Willoughby, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 18, 1958, in Willoughby.
Jerry was a 1976 graduate of Willoughby South High School, studied photography at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, was the owner of Legends Sports Photography for more than 30 years and had served on the Frontier Days Committee. He loved his trips to Vermont and enjoyed hanging out at Willo True Value Hardware with Al.
Jerry leaves behind his loving dog companion, “Willoughby”; his Legends Sports Photography family; Godson, Alex Zalar; Jason Griffith who was like a son; nieces and nephews, Jeff (Dina) Cook, Jessica Cook, Travis (Katelyn) Cook, Trevor (Haleigh) Nethken, Sara Nethken, Troy Nethken, Eddie Cook, Angelina Swank, Colton Cook and McKenna Cook; aunts and uncles, Debbie (Bill) Collins, Mickey (Cindy) Morton, Judy Sutton. He also leaves many cousins and friends who were like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Janet and Gerald Cook; and siblings, Jodi Cook Nethken and Jeff Cook.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, with a Celebration of Life service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township. (Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.)
