Obituary for Fred Sanderson Cover

Fred Sanderson Cover, age 97, of Breckenridge in Willoughby, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, at his residence.
He was born October 3, 1923, in Newton Falls.
Fred was a graduate of Hiram College with a BA, and graduate of Kent State University with a Master’s in Education.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the South Pacific and with the occupation force in Japan. He also served 32 years in Ohio as a public school administrator, in the Windham, Hiram, Crestwood, and Streetsboro school districts, and with the State Department of Education in Columbus.
During his 30 years of retirement, he lived in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Chair of the Lake Havasu Hospital Board, and an active member of St. Michael’s United Methodist Church.
He was the loving father of Marilyn Ruth Cover, Cindy Jean Cover, Cathy Lee Cover; cherished grandfather of Lena Knofler and Gracie Latimer; and brother of Ruth Long.
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Ellen (nee Hawkins) Cover (2016); son, David Cover; and brother, Herb Cover.
A memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby.
