Obituary for Eugene R Vild
Funeral Mass for Eugene R. Vild, 87, of Eastlake, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick. Fr. Steve Breck will officiate.
Eugene passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
He was born Dec. 11, 1934, in Cleveland.
Eugene was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Willowick, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, and a member of V.F.W. Post 1500 in Willoughby. He loved bingo and for many years volunteered with the bingo at St. Justin Martyr Church in Eastlake. Eugene enjoyed the Broadway Series in Cleveland, vacations and traveling.
Mr. Vild was a retired meat cutter with over 25 years of service at Giant Eagle. After retirement, he worked for the Lake County Captains.
He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Rosalie (nee Gregos) Vild; loving father of Richard D. Vild and Rosemarie A. (James) Sisler; cherished grandfather of Mandi Sisler and Abby Vild; brother-in-law of Katie Vild; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marion (nee Davidson) Vild; and siblings, Charles Vild, Dorothy (Joseph, dec.) Piskura and Florence Davis.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
